   Pro: They live a million years. Con: You’re gonna need frequent dental cleanings with extractions.

   Do it yourself. Buy an electric toothbrush to make the process easier and faster. Brush their teeth when you brush your teeth. Once a month, I add a tiny bit of baking soda to the brush. Have dental cleaning kit to remove tartar, if any. Have never paid for dental cleaning for my dogs. Never had any teeth removed for the dogs either. Healthy teeth and gums to the very end.

   Yes do it, absolutely necessary. But try to find a place that exclusively does dental cleanings. That’s going to be far far cheaper than going to your vet. For example I found a place 1/4 price that I take my dogs to. Purely bc that’s all they do.

   I inherited a dog from my mom when she died, I already had three at home. Mine always had dental cleanings. Hers did not and it cost us about $2700 to get three or four extractions and a cleaning. So you either pay for it now or you’re going to pay more for it later She had an abscess, overnight and her whole face swelled up and we took her to the ER Vet in the middle of the night. They told us what it was so there was another $700 just to be told her teeth needed work so it was $3400 total. My Vet offers a dental package, where you pay so much monthly and then when dental work or cleanings need to be done, I’ve already paid for it

   As someone who just spent over $1000 getting extractions for my elderly chihuahua, do the dental cleaning, or you’ll pay for it later.
