Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Big dog will. Eliot my corgi will pounce on dogs bigger than him and paw ones that are smaller.

When I use a drag line for my dogs, they are on a harness. That way they dont damage their necks if they hit the end of the line hard, and it keeps it away from their paws some!

He just wants in on the fun! When it's one of you in there, nothing's happening. When you both sit down together, that's his cue that Evening Time has officially begun, and he is not about to be left out of it. Kind of sweet, just inconvenient lol. And the garden thing is a little routine he invented, and it pays out. He asks, he goes out, he comes back, he gets a treat. Because it works some nights and not others, he tries harder, not less. Same reason a slot machine keeps you sitting there. It paid once. He's not being difficult, he's just very good at his job and you're his best customers. Stuff that might help: * Move the fetch earlier in the day. You don't have to cut it out, just don't let it be the last thing before you want him to chill. Fetch winds them up more than it wears them out and he can stay buzzing for hours after. Save the evening for a long sniffy wander instead, sniffing tires them out in the good way. * Give him one garden trip right before you sit down, then that's it for the night. Once asking stops getting him out there, the routine loses its first step and he has to come up with a new business model. * Bed or mat near you, plus a frozen Kong or lick mat the second you both settle in. Licking genuinely calms them down. That's probably why the indoor toys flopped, toys are play, and you're asking him to wind down. * When he settles on his own, quietly drop a treat between his paws. No talking, no eye contact, no fuss. Just making lying there the thing that pays now. * When he pesters, be spectacularly boring. Fair warning, he'll try harder for a few nights first. That's the going-out-of-business sale. Feel free to keep using the crate for now too. It's already his bed and he's comfy in there, and you two are allowed to finish a glass of wine in peace. You can phase it out as the mat starts doing its job. You got this!!!

Thanks for this advice. We did about mile bike ride with her running next to me and it tore her paws up too. This might be the key!

I guess it might be breed specific. We have always had working/gun dog breeds and they typically communicate by putting a paw on you and staring deep into your soul, rather than barking and yapping. Maybe it's bred it to them.
