   Check the population stats over time for the specific area you live and it may be even more wild! Life seems to have shifted slowly in some ways but also leapt forward in other ways. I remember driving in the afternoon on a weekday and the roads were chronically empty. That changed suddenly sometime around the 2008 financial crisis and it clearly hasn’t lessened since

   I was 16.....We were sitting in the water on our surfboards at seal beach....it was late in the afternoon towards the end of the day.....We saw a few columns of smoke over Los Angeles and just assumed it was random fires. We eventually came in and some rando was telling us about it on the sand...but it wasn't until we got to the car and turned on the radio that we realized how bad it was getting. I remember getting home and turning on the TV and seeing my first images of it.... It's probably the most surreal experience of my life

   I won entry into the “Walks Like a Lady” contest when Journey came to town in 1980 when I was 16. Now that I think about it, I’m surprised that was allowable, LOL. The band was in town doing a two-nighter, and the contest was on the first night; I had tickets for the second night because they were my favorite band, and I was absolutely undeniably in love with Steve Perry. My parents drove me to the sports arena and were along with me the whole way. I was so young and naïve, LOL, I had no idea what it was really about. Let’s just say I didn’t win, it was basically a lot of wannabe groupies, and everybody strutted their stuff like a Runway model only sleazier, and Neal Schon was the judge. I was a very awkward teenager, and I had no idea how to strut. And I didn’t even try. My strut didn’t come in for about 10 years. However, I got to meet Neal Schon as did my parents, and I got to meet the tour manager, and I asked him what to do if I wanted to meet Steve Perry. He said to come backstage at soundcheck in the afternoon and ask for him (stage manager) specifically. So the next day, one of my friends held our place in line (general admission, sold out show, end of June, blistering heat, lined up since noon), while the other one raced backstage with me when we saw the limo go by. I asked for the stage manager, and I got to meet Steve Perry. Our absolutely scintillating conversation included him asking me why the town smelled like fish and I said it was the river because the sports arena was right there on the river, and I got a kiss on the cheek, albums autographed, and a photo, and because it was so hot and I sunburn, I was slathered in cocoa butter. So he put his arm around me, and said “ooooh you’re all greazzzzed up!“ Riveting, I tell ya. Did I mention I was also dressed like a complete dork with bottle bottom glasses and a mouthful of metal braces? Bless that man, he was so kind to this awkward teen… who also just now realized his statements may have been innuendos that my unawakened self totally missed. Hmm. But it was definitely the highlight of my life at that point, four days before I turned 17.

   Depends on whether you are talking about weighted or unweighted. Harder versions of classes earn a higher number grade for the same letter grade. English - A = 4.0 Honors English - A = 4.5 AP English (college level) - A = 5.0 Every drop in letter grade is a 1 point drop in number grade so a B in AP English gets you the same number grade as an A in regular English. Those are weighted grades for harder classes. Unweighted GPA is the same regardless of difficulty. I believe you may also get the bonus for classes taken at a local community college but don’t quote me on that. Some kids go to their high school in the morning and then take classes at their local community college in the afternoon. I don’t think it’s possible to get a perfect 5.0 all around as there are some required classes that are not offered in Honors or AP. As a for instance, my sons are/were required to take 2 semesters of a foreign language to graduate but both were only offered as basic courses. You couldn’t get AP credit until the 3rd semester of the language. As far as your friend’s kid goes, that GPA is good but it wouldn’t be considered great, at least where my kids go/went to high school. My oldest graduated with a 4.52 and was 40 something in his class of over 600. The places were separated sometimes by the thousandths decimal place.
