Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I've always said cars should have a regular horn for emergencies and a second sounding horn for "hey, pay attention".

This is true and yes, it's hard to explain exactly why. Google says it changes the pitch perception and frames it as a polite Hey there rather than the more angry and aggressive sounding single tone. Reminds me of the other day. It was evening with moderate traffic. Stopped at a light to turn, two turning lanes, I was about four cars back from the front. It seems that the light had changed and the first two cars weren't moving. I hadn't even noticed because I couldn't actually see the lights with the high SUV in front of my car. Suddenly this guy somewhere behind me gets on his horn and continues continuously for at least 39-60 seconds. I seriously thought someone had had a collision or some other emergency. Eventually the cars in front start going. Me and the car beside me purposely took it extra slow so whoever was honking behind us would have to sit through another set of light changes. So petty yet so satisfying 😁. The idiot honker didn't care that the cars in front of him literally couldn't move forward. And the cars behind the front cars either weren't paying attention either or were way more polite and patient. Edit: I see I've copped a downvote. Probably from someone who would do a rude honk on the road. Well, there are bad apples everywhere!

For me, that was the emergency "Mom, hurry up you've been in the store too long!" button.

I remember those! My dad got me one for my car while I was still in high school (1988/89). He took that thing right back after the first month’s phone bill. 🤣🤣🤣 I can’t believe he thought I’d ONLY use it for emergencies.

1998. I was pregnant with my first. My husband decided that I should have a cellphone, but ONLY for emergencies. I made the mistake of using the cellphone ONCE. I was on my way to the airport 45 minutes from home (with my 7 month old in the car) to pick up his mother for the holiday, and I had forgotten what airline she was traveling on. I used the cellphone to call him. He had an absolute meltdown. Apparently, I was supposed to drive home and call from the land line. Then go back to the airport to get her. All with a 7 month old in the car.🙄😳🤦♀️. I never used a cellphone after that. Even after my daughter was born in 2001. According to him, "the cell phone is for emergencies ONLY". So I made sure I didn't have 'emergencies'. And yes, there were plenty of times he couldn't 'find' us, because I didn't carry the phone with me.... after all, I was only a house wife, what did I need a cellphone for?🤷♀️ I didn't actually start using a cell phone until my kids were in school (2006) and I knew the school would need to be able to get in touch if necessary. And THAT was a conversation 🙄 his friends had with him... Was I supposed to stay home all day in case the school called? Was I supposed to go home and check in case they left a message? Or....wouldn't it be easier for me to have the phone on me, in case they called?
