   Two My first girlfriend high school/college. I broke it off and regretted it. She reached out two years after breakup and said she loved me, missed me, and wanted to reconnect. I was going through a tough time personally, told her i'd call her and never did. That was a boat load of regret. I've never loved anyone like I loved her. The other was my wife who I was married to for ten years. But we are divorced now.

   1983. Senior in High School. The DJ announced on air that a limo would be arriving that evening to pick up me and then my girlfriend, take us to dinner at a fancy "top of the tower" revolving restaurant for dinner with the DJ and his girlfriend, and then take us for front-row seats at Tom Petty's "Long After Dark" tour. I drove to my evening telemarketing job to make an excuse, but before I could say a word, my supervisor just grinned and said "I guess you're not working tonight." She'd heard the whole thing on air. One of those magical days that stay with you forever, and remind you that no matter how common and humble a life you've led, there have been blessings to remember fondly.

   I've never won anything, but this story is cool because I did get a prize. My best friend had left his playroom stereo set to the love song station, when he and his girlfriend left the house. At some point, his brother walked into the room and the music was just playing. The DJ came on and said be the 12th caller at 555-5555, so David jumped to the phone and called, and he won! The DJ said, "Congratulations, you just won a pair of tickets to see Peter Paul and Mary on Broadway!" And 13-year-old David replied, " who the fuck are Peter Paul and Mary?" The DJ changed one of those words to heck when he relayed the story on air after the next song, rather than playing the conversation. David gave the tickets to me because my father was a folk musician so I was into folk music, and I took a girl in my freshman class in college to the show. We had a delightful time.

   In the late 1990s a local radio station in Calgary, Alberta - Lite 95.9 CHFM - was giving away a trip for two every day for the opening of Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. I was 24 or 25 at the time and ended up winning one of the trips - the funny part was I was actually working at a casino in Calgary when they said to be the 9th caller now to instantly win a trip. So my girlfriend at the time and I had 3 nights at brand-new Mandalay Bay, my first time to Vegas.
