   I've always had a slightest astigmatism, so since I was about 30 I've owned glasses that I wore when driving long distances or doing a lot of computer work. I will never forget the joy my optometrist had as he danced around the room telling me it was time for bifocals. (Our kids went to school together, so we have been friends for a long time.) I ended up getting progressives, and I wear them practically all the time.

   I like progressives, but they have to be dialed in. If you’re mid 40s or older, get ready to have your vision change every couple years. Happens to a lot of people.

   With you 100%. Got my first pair of glasses at the eye doc's place and they were like $150 *after* my insurance. From then on I've also used the Z place, get glasses and sunglasses every couple of years and I rarely pay more than $25-40 for a pair from them. I tried progressives as I need readers all the time, and I hated them. Nauseating. So I have glasses for driving, and then 4-5 different powers of readers for all the other stuff I do in life. Mine range from 1.25 for computers to 2.50 for fine work. I get mine usually from Amazon and they are maybe $5/pr in multi packs.

   Progressives are fabulous. It took me about a week to get used to them, but I’m not always losing my cheaters like other people, my age. Plus they keep borrowing each other’s. That’s so gross.

   Dry eyes also make both near and far vision blurry. I get tear duct plugs to help with my dry eyes. (I also use heated eye masks and celluvisk eye drops.) Agreed about the progressives - I love mine, but my husband tried them and couldn't get used to them.
