It's easy to be shocked that someone would do something like this until you click on a bad link and end up in a forum with 20,000 people talking about how Tom Hanks is secretly wearing an ankle monitor because he was convicted of pedophilia in Australia. If 1 in every 5,000 people are completely out of their minds insane then a city like Los Angeles has thousands of them. It doesn't mean anything about our society, it's an outlier getting attention. 30 years ago most of us would never have known about this story.
