Fuck Metallica. The black album was awesome, but they changed into the very rock music they were initially against. Then Napster. These guys have been riding a reptuation they've not had since the 80's.

This is not quite the same but I'm from the bay area and my dad was in the metal scene in the 80s as a bassist for other bands and my entire *life* my dad hated Metallica. It was like a banned band in our house because my dad had such a problem with them. Apparently someone in my dad's band was related to someone in Metallica, like a cousin or something, and my dad crossed paths with Metallica *frequently* before they got famous. And according to my dad, they've always been pricks, from the getgo, just rude, condescending and full of ego straight out the gates. For years my dad looked kinda crazy but with the Napster thing making people see them in different light, my dad finally got the validation he was looking for for like 20 years
