Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

CD's are at the point that vinyl was at maybe 15 years ago, where you can find great music used for a few bucks. It's a cheap and easy entry point into a physical music collection. It wouldn't surpirse me if there was an uptick in smaller artists pressing CDs again taking the space of 7" records, since most vinyl pressing plants are full up from 14 versions of the next Taylor Swift record.

I discovered new music by reading music magazines, the radio, MTV, friends, and browsing music stores, where you could try CD's before you buy them. Sometimes you'd come across some deals on new and used CD's and you'd just take a chance on them if the album cover cover sparked your interest. Still have a collection of about 800 CD's. Sometimes you'd get some hand-me-down cassettes or CD's from an older sibling. I remember receiving a cassette of Public Enemy's Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black album from my older sister's boyfriend, and it blew my mind, as it was the heaviest thing I heard at the time. To a lesser extent, the web, with websites, chat rooms, and message boards. The web as we know it now was only 3 years old back when I was 16 in 1996, and it definitely was not something you spent all day on like today. Currently, I'm coming across new music through Instagram believe it or not.

Damn, well you are quite old (as a compliment). Honestly how did you actually find music back then? Like CDs, vinyls because nowadays I listen to spotify stuff, although my grandpa (from mom's side) has full on cd's, vinyl and that everything music-related.

I think you could be right 😅 I still hand a fondness for CDs though - I listen mostly to digital mp3 but like to keep cd versions of my all time fav albums

physical media. also, compared with vinyl, you can easily rip the CD to flac files and store/play them via PC (roon connect )
