They’re a singular band in the sense that there’s no pastiche, no attempt to follow well worn paths. Rhythmically they’re quite unusual and I can understand how that simply doesn’t work for some people. Winter’s voice is beautiful (to me) and his lyrics are REM/Dylan levels of arcane, bewildering, confounding, but they’re not random. There’s a sense of clear sightedness living in them, that although it’s reluctant to reveal itself easily, is there all the same. Put simply, they’re like nothing I’ve ever heard in a long time, and while I don’t love all their music, I find them utterly compelling. Also to watch their live performances improve like they did between Coachella earlier this year, and Reading/Leeds a short while back is fascinating. But if you don’t like them? Very understandable also!

Asha Bhosle died earlier this year at the age of 92. She said that this song helped her clear immigration at Heathrow Airport more quickly than she got through before it came out because she could just say she was the Asha from *Brimful of Asha* and they’d recognise her.

One of the best show experiences of my life was seeing them with thee sinceres earlier this year. Just life changing. I smiled for weeks after that.
