Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

They were poor in the 90s, but Lance is being dishonest about how things went in the early 2000s where they came into serious money.

  2. Comment

Yes and no. Lance is halfway telling the truth, but you are correct about his lack of publishing contributions affecting his residuals. What he's hiding is how they got a big settlement from their former manager and then made millions off their 2 tours as headliners in the early 2000s outside of their 360 deal. This is revisionist history, when anyone with the facts saw them living very well after the 1990s.

  3. Comment

For a 16 year old? There was a conflict of interest, as they used their manager's own attorneys. He's not being fully honest anyway, as they became millionaires as the millennium turned. If he's griping about the 90s, fine. They became very rich in the early 2000s, so it's lies.

  4. Comment

They had a resurgance in the early 2000s with Beautiful Day, and suddenly they were a band played EVERYWHERE. For a lot of younger people, it was the first time they ever heard of the band. It didn't matter what this band released a decade ago, it was a different era.

  5. Comment

Correct. Anything he is claiming ONLY applies to pre-2000. In late 1999, they got a settlement out of court which was a shared 7 figures total. Add 2 blockbuster sold out tours, he's not being honest. Under their original contract, they got zero touring income. Their new 1999 contract enabled them to have more control. I did a deep dive ages ago and determined that they made several millions between 2000 and 2002 as a collective. Maybe he felt stretched by helping out too many people and trying to go into Space, plus lack of residuals. The record labels often rejected artists like these contributing their own material, because of focus group concerns, so little to no publishing royalties. He thinks people won't remember tabloid reports on noted lifestyle changes, that showed them being very spendy in the early 2000s. They weren't broke like they were in the 90s.
