Artist (Samzin kreave) Title Letter 2 Jessica (style) dark emo reggaeton regaegtron - Letter to Jessica: Love, Loyalty, and Mixed Signals When I look at the lyrics of “Letter to Jessica,” what stands out to me is the conflict between wanting a relationship to work and not knowing where you stand with the other person. The narrator clearly cares about Jessica. He's willing to stay, believes in their promises, and remembers how she helped him through difficult times. But he also questions whether her feelings are genuine. He's caught between what he wants the relationship to be and what he's experiencing. That tension runs through the entire song. The meaning behind “Pause, Rewind, Replay” The line that immediately stands out is: “Pushing and pulling me, pause, rewind, replay, you know I'll stay.” I like how “pause, rewind, replay” captures the feeling of going over a conversation in your head. You keep thinking about what someone said, wondering what they meant, and trying to figure out whether you missed something. The phrase also fits naturally into a song because it has a rhythm of its own. It sounds like something you could build a hook around. Then comes “you know I'll stay.” That changes the feeling of the line. The narrator recognizes that things aren't simple, but he isn't ready to walk away. Trying to believe in someone The narrator says he looks for beautiful reasons and believes in promises made. To me, that sounds like someone trying to hold on to the good parts of a relationship, even when doubts start creeping in. He wants their love to last. He doesn't want what they've built to disappear. But there's a difference between believing in someone and feeling secure with them. The lyrics suggest that the narrator is trying to do both, and he isn't always succeeding. Loyalty has its limits Another part that stands out is the reference to staying together through sickness and health, for better or worse. Those are familiar wedding-vow ideas, and they show how seriously the narrator takes commitment. He's not describing a relationship he can casually walk away from. He's talking about being there when things get difficult. But the rest of the song makes that commitment more complicated. He describes being hurt, questioning the relationship, and wondering whether the love is genuine. That raises an interesting question: when does loyalty help two people work through their problems, and when does it make it harder to recognize that something needs to change? The song doesn't give us a simple answer. The moment he starts questioning everything One of the most personal passages comes when the narrator asks whether the other person's love, touch, and kisses are real. That question gets to the heart of the relationship. He's not just asking whether Jessica loves him. He's asking whether the things she says in private reflect how she actually feels. It's a vulnerable moment because it shows how uncertainty can affect even the most intimate parts of a relationship. Physical closeness doesn't necessarily eliminate emotional doubt. After spending so much time talking about loyalty, the narrator finally admits that he needs to stop and think. Faith and the good she brought into his life The religious references add another layer to the song. The narrator talks about the blessings God gives and remembers how his life was going off the rails before Jessica came into it. He doesn't portray the relationship as entirely bad. Quite the opposite: he credits her with helping him through difficult circumstances and giving him reasons to believe again. That's important because it explains why leaving might not feel simple to him. He's holding on to the good she brought into his life, even while struggling with the pain they're experiencing together. The song acknowledges that two things can be true at once: someone can make a meaningful difference in your life, and your relationship with that person can still become difficult. The line that brings everything together For me, one of the most revealing lines is: “You helped my spirit to believe, but you keep begging me to leave, girl.” That's the contradiction at the center of the song. The narrator sees Jessica as someone who helped him find hope, yet she's also asking him to leave. He remembers what she gave him, but he can't ignore what is happening now. It makes the earlier declarations of loyalty sound different. By this point, we understand that staying isn't necessarily a sign that everything is fine. It may mean he's struggling to reconcile what the relationship once meant with what it has become. Why the chorus works The repeated hook keeps bringing us back to the same emotional place. Each time it returns, we've learned something new about the narrator. First, we hear his commitment. Then we hear his doubts. Later, we learn how much Jessica helped him and how painful the conflict has become. The words repeat, but their meaning changes as the story develops. That's one of the things repetition can do well in songwriting. A chorus doesn't always need new words to gain new meaning. Sometimes the verses change how we hear it. Final thoughts What makes “Letter to Jessica” interesting is that the narrator never completely settles the argument inside himself. He wants to stay loyal. He wants to believe the promises. He's grateful for the good Jessica brought into his life. At the same time, he questions her feelings and describes a relationship that leaves him hurting. I think that contradiction is the song's strongest element. It doesn't present love as a perfect feeling or pretend that commitment makes every problem disappear. Instead, it explores what happens when someone is trying to hold on to a relationship while struggling to understand it. And it leaves us with a question worth thinking about: How do you know when you're fighting for a relationship because the love is worth it, and when you're holding on because you're afraid to let go? That's the question I keep coming back to when I read these lyrics. Official Genre & Style Primary genre: Dark Emo Reggaeton Rhythmic foundation: Latin Dembow / Reggaeton Language: English Mood: Dark, emotional, intimate, conflicted Production: Deep 808 bass, syncopated dembow drums, atmospheric synths, melodic emo vocals, and subtle vocal effects. How the sound should work The Latin dembow rhythm drives the body, while the dark emo melodies carry the heartbreak. The English lyrics keep the storytelling direct and personal, and the reggaeton groove gives the song movement without sacrificing its emotional weight. For Letter to Jessica, I'd keep the verses intimate and conversational, make “pause, rewind, replay” the rhythmic hook, and let the chorus open into a darker, melodic reggaeton sound. The defining combination is heartbreak you can dance to: dark emo emotion over an English-language Latin dembow groove.

Swifties are making accusations that bc of the PZ MV, that Joe tried to kill Taylor. As a fan of her music but not her as she has become Taylor Swift™️. In addition to my own personal reasons or widely known reasons aka billionaire, mocking SA, hanging out w abusive ppl and surrounding herself w MAGA; jet usage etc. I rarely see it brought up that she blatantly mocked a man’s SA. Taylor created the parasocial relationships that she now openly hates, sings and writes about. Everything she allegedly stood for was only bc it directly affected her. She knew what she was doing when she dropped PZ. Doesn’t matter to her fans that she explained the video/song. She knew and knows that her fans would go after her ex as she/they always do when she drops a song/album. Her legacy will be that she, self proclaimed English teacher, started throwing out misogyny (which yes she did/does experience) when there’s any legitimate criticism of her and teaching her fans to do the same. She/they don’t know the correct definition or when to use it. Not all criticism is misogynistic. She doesn’t know the definition of intersectionality thus neither do her fans. She taught them that any and all criticism of her is unwarranted and bc she’s a woman. Any critique against her is a critique against swifties. Shes a perpetual victim. Most of the ppl on the snark sub are there bc there isn’t a place for her fans/swifties to post safely (without getting dogpiled; doxxed) for any critique of her. I grew up to her music, I still listen to her at times yet I grew up while she’s stuck in HS. A lot of her fans feel the same esp given her recent output. Not solely TLOAS. With Folkmore, it seemed as if she was finally growing as an artist only for her to backslide tremendously. To reiterate, I’ve been with her or a fan of her since debut. I could list all of the criticisms that are legitimate and fair but people already know them. In closing, she spent her entire life talking about independence, how she was able to rise above and conquer the music industry in spite of being a woman. She didn’t need a man only for her to welcome her husband into her brand and completely obliterate that image of her. “I don’t need a man to save me, wait jk I do and I WON HATERS” is everything she’s sang, fought against, taught, believed etc etc whiplash

Lyrics for Take it or Leave it (not the strokes' one) - Hello everyone it's my first post here and I'm recurring to reddit to find the lyrics for a song called Take it or Leave it by VHS or Beta, I've searched everywhere for them and cannot find them neither on streaming apps nor old lyrics websites, and since I'm not a native english speaker I only get like 80% of the lyrics in the song, even if no one can find them could any english speaker actually pick up what the lyrics say? I'd really really appreciate if someone has them. I get this is against the sub's rules but if reddit cannot help me with this then I have 0 f idea of where to look next

Some albums of Ōtautahi Christchurch solo musicians of influence post 2000s **Marlon Williams** — Te Whare Tīwekaweka (2025) Stunningly beautiful alt-country, folk music in Te Reo. Made a huge breakthrough with earlier song in English if you want to listen to those, they are also excellent. But I think capturing his journey in learning Te Reo and also capturing the the wave of learners and embracing of Māori language that has happened and is happening, this is a great taste of the time. **Fazerdaze** — Soft Power (2024) Indie pop, shoe gazy. Amelia has been making great music under the name Fazerdaze for a while. Lucky Girl was a decent hit, but Soft Power is a change in direction, more story telling imo. Amelia is from Wellington, and her stuff that she made a name for herself with were made in Tāmaki. But this album was made after a move to Christchurch. **Ladi6** — The Liberation of... (2010) Soul, R&B, Hip-hop. I really love many artists in the soul, R&B scene. Songs by Adeaze, Aaradhna in the early 2000s, and recently Teeks has been doing so well. But Ladi6 is such a legend of the space. **Lawrence Arabia** — Chant Darling (2009) This album features one of my favourite songs by Lawrence Arabia, Apple Pie Bed. Bouncy up beat pop song, but the album loves around genres a bit. Take me back to seeing him live at Golden Dawn. **Scribe** — The Crusader (2003) Rap, Hip Hop, Progressive rap. There has been some hip hop scene in New Zealand, but scribe really change the scene in NZ and Australia. He set a high bar with the Crusader that he would never pass, but at the time it opened the door for so many artists. **Bic Runga** — Beautiful Collision (2002) Folk, Pop rock. Her debut album Drive is more popular and famous, but I think her second is equally as good. Still tours around and is still so great. **Anika Moa** — In Swings the Tide (2001) Another legend, pumping out so many albums. Lots of kids stuff recently if you want some stuff for the young ones.
