   Love that description of the album cover. Revolution Blues is such a heavy song with fairly dark lyrics. Iirc it’s about Charles Manson: “I got the revolution blues, I see bloody fountains / And ten million dune buggies comin’ down the mountain / well I hear that Laurel Canyon is full of famous stars / But I hate them worse than lepers and I’ll kill them in their cars” It’s such a contrast with the quietly sad and almost conversational songs on the record like Motion Pictures.

   I don't understand the hate Thom has received for this sentiment. Many musicians and bands have expressed similar opinions over the years, with 0 outrage. Michael Jackson (famously did not like to tour), David Byrne (basically got TH to stop touring because he hated doing the same show nightly), Dillinger Escape Plan (what a list, eh?). give me a break. EDIT: Clarity for DEP, I read an interview with Greg Pucatio years back with him basically saying, "You do the tour to get to the next set of songs (to write/record)"

   I agree, the hate she receives is very extreme. But I chalk it up to the fact that the commercial success she has achieved is also very extreme. And success always comes with a proportional amount of jealousy. Nobody in the music industry is operating financially/commercially at her level. Not even close. And nobody is getting the amount of hate she is getting.
