Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

OP, reddit has been saying something like "pop music is not declining. Just that you don't know where to find it. It also means you're getting old." For some reason, they are very adamant in saying pop these days (Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, Morgan Wallen, Billie Eilish, Harry Style, K Pop, Olivia Dean, etc) are as good as say, the 80's (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Wham! and George Michael, Prince, Culture Club, Pet Shop Boys, Cyndi Lauper, Eurythmics, Tears for Fears, New Order, OMD, Phil Collins, Elton John, The Bangles, Depeche Mode, Belinda Carlisle, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, Duran Duran etc). I mean, it's subjective. Just that you should know what side reddit takes in this regard.

Bowie. Prince. Ali. Alan Rickman. Gene Wilder. Carrie Fisher. Debbie Reynolds. Horrible year.

Don’t expect creativity in pop. It’s the rare musician who breaks this bubble. To me it’s really been, in the last few decades, Prince and Curt Cobain who went in a truly new direction, with quite a bit of risk, and brought the world somewhere new in music.

My own father continually made jokes to me and my siblinngs that he was going to "Write us out of the will" whenever we did something he didn't like. When he passed away a few years ago it turned out he had only ever written one Will, once, shortly after I was born and had never updated it in over 30 years. I couldn't believe it. Something so simple could have saved us years of trying to decide who gets what and what to do with all his belongings. It's patently absurd that someone on the scale of Prince just did not have a Will. It means it was entirely by choice and not negligence because it would have been the first thing any business lawyer he dealt with would have tried to establish, along with a plan for the estate were something like injury or sickness leave him alive but incompetent. But he didn't appoint a single person to be in charge of anything. Someone who watched and exercised his own legal rights at every chance he got and he didn't make a single decision on what would happen if he wasn't there. We're lucky he still had siblings. If he truly died with no family at all the entirety of his estate would have gone to the Minnesota government.

If Prince cared, he’d have had a will including strict instructions on what to do with all his Earthly shit post mortem. But he didn’t so he has no say in the matter.
