Eh, as popular as Taylor Swift is, I'd say Katy Perry's music is more ubiquitous. I can still only name Shake it Off and maybe recognize 2 or 3 other songs of Swift's, but I've heard maybe a dozen Katy Perry songs many times over in all sorts of venues. Of course, I am an old now, so that may be just me, but I think Taylor Swift's popularity has as much to do with being Taylor Swift than her music, outside of her (considerable) fanbase. And Perry was most popular when there was still remnants of a music monoculture. I don't recognize many of the songs and artists on the current billboard top 40, which definitely wasn't true 15 or 20 years ago, whether I liked the music or not. I have young nieces and nephews, so most new music I'm aware of if they're listening to it, but even then none of them are Taylor Swift fans, or I never hear them listening to her music. You can't go to a fireworks show without hearing Firework though, and Teenage Dream and California Gurls were played ad nauseum, you couldn't escape it.
