   I did a brief research about the ticket pricing, and it sound like to me that she had done a good job at trying to keep the prices as low as she could, even refused dynamic pricings. It sounds like it was the scalpers that ruined it and the fact that ticketmaster was horrible at doing their jobs. Idk, it sounds like your just giving personal bias opinions to me.

   This large of a festival could not be free in this day and age. Insurance companies and vendors have so many requirements. For starters, if you do a lottery for free tickets and general admission you would need an insane amount of security for this many people. How do you handle parking? Water and first aid? Hell even the servers for doing that kind of ticket lottery would be similar to Ticketmaster crashes but on a theme park website? Comments like these are well intended but makes me think people don’t realize how different the world has become over the last 50 years. You will likely never see a “Woodstock” festival again.

   Everybody bringing up Robert Smith but didn't he even struggle with it? I wasn't able to get Cure tickets but I thought there was controversy where Ticketmaster was only doing partial refunds on tickets and not charging what he wanted and there were definitely still scalpers. To bring up another controversial man in the industry, I saw Louis CK before all his drama and he made it a point to play non Ticketmaster shows because of the fees and he had slim pickings because they own so many of the venues. And now AXS has a large chunk of the independent ones and still charges fees. Or you've got Pearl Jam who famously fought Ticketmaster and now charged crazy prices for VIP experiences. There's no winning. Truthfully tickets for this show dropped closer to the concert. They weren't terrible. Lower bowl was $80s and nosebleed was $50s. Which is more than decades ago but par for the course now. I don't know how much they take home and how much the crew takes home but the industry will blow up on itself when people stop having enough to pay their bills. He was right though that the cost of everything has gone up. Parking near the venue WAS $80 which is insane but it's dynamic pricing and that's the case for most events. The same area on a different day the parking garage would be 11-30. If you wanted to avoid it you could park farther away and walk or take public transit but a lot of people suck it up for convenience or if they're running late. And concessions have always been insane too. As far as the smoking goes, I was at this concert and it was such a non issue. He wasn't chainsmoking the whole show. He literally just lit up for a minute during the last song for the optics. (And I doubt he had to pay the fee because if it is part of the act you can get away with it.) I suspect that he was mostly irritated about the fact that they wouldn't let him smoke in the dressing room which he initially mentioned and realized that going after the live music industry and concerts in general would get more applause and attention. I mean will I clap if you talk shit about corporations? Absolutely I will. And let's be real I'm sure the not smoking in the dressing room rule is because they don't want to have to clean out the smell of smoke in the furniture/walls. But it is ironic given how many years it was allowed in public when non smokers had to go sit in a little corner room to try and avoid it.

   Yeah that's a good way to avoid fees, provided it's not going to sell out the second it goes on sale - the box office/outlets can't do much against beating online sales... Geez my last comment got downvoted to hell 😂 Must be Ticketmaster lifers offended at their precious fees being ridiculed

   Robert Smith introduced a tiered system where the high priced tickets could be used to offset the low priced tickets (charge more for the good seats so you can subsidize general admission or cheap seats). Live Nation is getting their cut either way, and they have exclusive rights on the big venues. Live Nation (Ticketmaster) is the problem here.
