   I did exactly what SapphireSync is referring to. The job pays too little to be as dangerous as it is, so I pivoted to a new career right after covid. I know touring pays more now, but there are all kinds of uneducated former warehouse employees turned touring stagehands because of the shortage. This issue was also exacerbated by the demand for stagehands during the World Cup and the rise of popularity for concertgoing in general.

   All of this. I’m likely on a lesser financial trajectory and I don’t plan To be working the way I am now at 60… and I get to go home most days vs travelling to earn (I.e. touring). The lifestyle is hard. Fun your first trip at 22. But he’s probably not seeing a lot of new stuff or playing a lot of new stuff with this band at 63… why not call it while he can still walk and his wife/kids are still n a phase of life where he can be around em.

   Sounded like touring is what got to him the most, I wouldn't rule out him playing studio sessions here and there with Pearl Jam. Travis is thirteen years younger than Cameron; he should wait another couple of years before judging a guy a decade and then some older.

   He’s fortunate (and talented enough) to be in two of the biggest bands in the last 30-odd years so he’ll have made all the money he needs. Like you say, if he doesn’t want to deal with touring anymore and just wants to spend more time with his family, fair play to him.

   Well, at least with drug abuse it is pretty much known that social aspects are a driving cause for addictions etc. Mental-health struggles come right after (as a consequence of drug addiction). In addition I would say knowledge at the time was not as of today. Regulations encouraging/disencouraging drug use also were not as of today. But most importantly when a lifestyle or an aesthetic is built upon the image of touring, drug use, and all sort of things, its very hard to step aside. It requires a rebel attitude which turns out not to be that common.
