Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Wasn't there a case a couple of years ago where they called for an ambulance for some rich person at a restaurant, it was late or didn't arrive? The chief of EMTs or something was one of the guests so it was embarrassing. Anyone remember?
- Comment
These comments are so fucking dystopian. Sometimes I think NYC is the greatest place on the planet, and then I remember that an ambulance show up to my house in literally 4 minutes when I lived in the suburbs.
- Comment
Well yeah if they're the only ones the ambulances are picking up
- Comment
Yeah unfortunately the system is under tremendous strain and has been for quite some time. Recruitment and retention continues to worsen, the FDNY members have been out of contract for 4 years. On top of that the call volume continues to climb. People call 911 with complaints of vomiting, not being able to sleep, common colds, dental issues and others that are frankly unbelievable. Then these people need to be taken to the hospital if they choose to go, making an ambulance unavailable for a true emergency for over an hour.

I had a stroke while at a hotel in midtown. I was able to give the 911 dispatcher the name of the hotel as well as the street and cross street it was on but I didn't know the building number and they told me without the building number they couldn't send an ambulance. I eventually got it and then it took 30 minutes for the ambulance to get to the hotel. THEN they couldn't get past the chainlink lock and told me I had to figure out a way to unlatch it in order for them to help me. My trunk was paralyzed so I couldn't even sit up let alone stand so I threw myself off the bed and army crawled to the door where I was able to use my arms to pull myself up with the door handle to undo the latch. It was insane.
