Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I don't not have the skills, nor the inclination to solve the homeless crisis nor the mental health crisis. I am but a humble commuter who has done his time and endured being the shelter of last resort for decades. It's someone else's turn. Put them in the lobby of every luxury condo, office building, police station, firehouse, Macys window or Yankee stadium. Why do transit riders have to put up with this forever? It is absolutely someone else's turn. If everyone else except subway riders had to endure this every day the problem would be fixed in a month. I have done my time. It is someone else's turn.

NYC government leaders have failed over the decades to provide a solution for long term involuntary care for these people. It always gets the back burner to placards of "free" this and that, more "rights" etc etc. If the city isn't safe, everything else provided to the people mean nothing.

Then why did he name his version COGE? These types of groups have existed for many many decades without leaning into Elon Musk's branding. There was already the framework within the NYC government for this to exist.

No one has a ‘right’ to live in a specific location, even if they grew up in the neighborhood. Awww you built a community in an expensive neighborhood? Ok well I guess you’re entitled to a cheap housing forever as to not hurt your feelings. They’ve already had their turn to live in a desirable place for decades. Why are they entitled to public housing in the exact neighborhood of their choosing? That’s not how this works. They are lucky for the time they had. At low cost, they should have been able to figure some other arrangement after decades of savings. Isn’t it more fair to let other taxpayers have their turn at cheap rent? Plenty of people qualify for this housing. Why should one person or family dominate a unit for decades?

Face the fact, because it is a fact, NYC like NYS in general is a "welfare state". It's been that way for decades and trend is only growing under socialist/liberal/democrat policies. NYC's total budget for all sorts of social services is larger than entire for some small cities or other local governments. You then have to factor in both at state and local government level NY is run and owed by the unions. NYC government could be modernized four thousand ways from Sunday, but public service unions won't wear it. Rudy G and Bloomberg took good stabs at it, but since B de B onward things have fallen largely flat. Even 311 system and or various online schemes aren't what they seem. Behind scenes it's still same slow bureaucracy as when things were done with paper and pencil. Case in point, one reason property owners and others don't want to get involved with city is because they take effing ages to pay. We're not talking about paying invoices a week or so late, but in many cases months or even years past due.
