Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

That area of Manhattan has more cameras than maybe anywhere in the US outside of DC. The residential building across the street had three different camera angles alone face outside the front door, plus two more at each corner that capture the federal building and four more that catch all the activity on that side of the street of which two pick up the sidewalk outside the federal building. That I'm aware of there are 30 cameras on that block.

    1. Actually, in some markets it can work - whose being very high price markets like Manhattan as the very high cost market rate units can offset the lower cost units. 2. ALSO, I’d this was a density bonus situation it would have been at the discretion of the developer, and it’s quite possible if not likely that the lower cost to build units would fulfill the low or mid income requirement. That’s letting the market decide 3. The very high AMI in Manhattan likely makes the scale to judge income limits a bit skewed. In a place with 65k household income then 100% of AMI is less than 150k household income (avg across Manhattan with some districts twice that). So low and especially middle income here might not be so low or mid after all. 4. Finally, GENERALLY you are correct. Expecting new higher end construction , the most costly means to price and retain housing, to solve the affordability, is a faulted idea. But if its density bonus then it’s working for the developer, and if its inclusionary then whole the rule is it doenst work there are rare instances in very high end markets where it does

We are letting people walk. And nyc voters are ok with this. just 35% of felony cases in Manhattan ended in conviction in 2024, down from 42% in 2021 (pre-Bragg) and 64% in 2019 before NY’s discovery reform laws took effect. And when the DA’s office does win a conviction, 66% of the time it’s a charge downgraded to a misdemeanor or non-criminal violation. The number of felony cases Bragg simply refused to prosecute nearly doubled from 7% in 2022 to 12% in 2024. Edit: numbers are worse for assault. NYC saw a 146.5% increase in felony assault re-offenders over six years, with 29,417 felony assaults in 2024

Oh, so this is why the NY Post made that area sound like it's the scourge of Manhattan this week...
