Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

A couple years ago in Bryant Park, a regular old hawk attacked a chihuahua that was being walked by its owner, so I wouldnt trust an eagle.

As far as renters go, it’s not that they don’t care, it’s that they care about other aspects way more. I don’t think the average renter in NYC would move to a less convenient location just because the building they were looking at was ugly on the outside. Same for amenities, floor space, rental price, etc. I don’t think the average NYC renter would sacrifice any other category in order to live in a prettier building. That’s why I think that economic signal will get lost. Owners probably care more, but again, ugly buildings in desirable neighborhoods still sell. Yeah I think the brick inspection stuff probably goes too far, but I’d prefer not to die randomly cause a landlord cheaped out, and doubly so for my loved ones. Edit: I should clarify, that I don’t think all buildings are doomed to be ugly. I just don’t think it will be market signals that fix it. I think the natural diversity in designs will fix it.

"Where tf is the empathy" I have empathy for the dog. But the owner got a dog and that comes with responsibilities. Having a pet is a privilege, not a right. People need to act like it. Dogs in trains need to be in a carrier or you have to figure out another option. That's the law, and it was the law before that dog was born. If there's not enough infrastructure for the dog, get a cat or a fish tank. It's not that complicated (service animals aside)

How would that work though in an opt-in system where pricing is variable? They use an algorithm based on last sold pricing of other bodegas to make an estimate. Most owners are rightfully going to want to optimize profit, but end result is everyone will target the top of the range, as bodegas normalize, that range will keep going up since they likely aren't in as much direct competition as you'd think.

A dog owner is responsible for their dog. Dog's aren't allowed to run into traffic. If the dog runs into traffic, that's the fault of the dog owner. the end. "a meteor could have fallen on them. what difference does it make if instead they died due to my negligence?" A lot of difference.
