   Yeah this is another example of how wildly successful their propaganda campaign has been. Hamas supporters started shopping around the ridiculous idea that Palestinians' conflict with Israel is just like your own struggle against capitalism. (Referring to those of "you" who are particularly passionate about the harms of capitalism.) Once they convince you that to support Palestinians is the same as fighting capitalism, they have you hooked. I will never forget a random 24yo who started talking to me in a grocery store about the Intifada and she insisted - like with 100 percent certainty - that the Palestinians were protesting against capitalism. The intifada was a protest against capitalism. I was dumbfounded, like, what on earth is going to happen to this planet. Sigh.

   I think your description of the groups needs some more nuance added. First, the second group tends to be the leaders of overall movement. Similarly, your first that group tends to tolerate if not welcome members of the second, provided that they keep their hate to themselves. You can decide on your own if that’s acceptable. Second, the first group has little tolerance for Zionists who are *also* upset by the brutality of this war and who are similarly in favor of Palestinian statehood. In this case, I think this is patently unacceptable. If you care about the lives of Palestinians, excluding people who also care about their lives because they don’t need some sort of purity test actively harms Palestinians. Taking collectively, you can see why the nuance matters. By and large, the “free Palestine” movement is defined more about one’s stance on Israel and Zionism than on Palestinian freedom.

In fact I'd argue that you're doing a rhetorically sleight of hand claiming that WoL, a group with zero political and military power, is somehow angling to enact a genocide in Israel. Holy tendentious framing. There's definitely a vibes based usage of the term here and it's not on the side you think. Hamas killed 1000 Israelis on October 7th. Israel has killed 70,000 Palestinians since. Israeli's chief military officer is now openly admitting they are planning to expel the remaining 2 million Gazas. It's just right there in the news, no mincing of words. They're also openly calling for a preemptive war against the PA in the West Bank.
