Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

My sympathy for the deranged homeless ceased to exist 27 subway shovings ago. Are you suggesting vagrants can't be forceably removed from a place they are occupying illegality? Police remove people from places they should not be every day. There are enough shelter beds for all the homeless. They just don't like shelters. Perhaps it is time to create shelters that are not accessible to the subways and relocate them there so they stay put. It is well past time to bring back forced institutionalization. Everything we have tried since has failed. Trying again would be foolish. Whats the definition of insanity?

No one is arguing that decrepit shelters are ideal. That’s a strawman. Address the actual argument instead of one you invented. Do you believe housing alone solves chronic homelessness? Do you think someone with severe mental illness or active addiction is suddenly going to recover simply because they’re given an apartment? If it were that simple, chronic homelessness wouldn’t exist. Housing isn’t a substitute for addiction treatment, psychiatric care or accountability. Giving unconditional housing to someone in active addiction without addressing the underlying illness isn’t treatment. So articulate your actual position. Do you believe housing alone is enough or do you believe treatment and intervention are necessary as well? Because right now you’re bouncing between arguments instead of addressing the issue being discussed. People don’t have a right to housing…shelters yes, but not housing. “Your idea” didn’t work in Los Angeles nor in San Francisco. Housing alone did not resolve chronic homelessness in Los Angeles or San Francisco for many people with severe addiction. Some individuals continued spending significant time on the streets or returned to encampments because housing by itself did not address their substance use or mental illness.

Shelters are not designed for chronic homelessness. Most will bounce within six months tops.

Maybe they addicted and/or mentally afflicted because they're in the street rather than the other way around? Schizophrenia isn't even a real condition, it's just a catch all label. No, most people hardworking don't use the shelter, it's filled with violent parolees that street homeless don't want to be around.

The problem is they want to use drugs, and no shelter would let them. It's not a matter of finding them homes or having them have someplace to be.
