   It generates jobs to build them and to maintain it plus other tax revenue for state. Even very little permanent jobs is still better than none for whats happening now.

   New York City collects more tax revenue than any city in the world, yet look at the state of its infrastructure. Now compare it to other global cities with modern transit and public works. Communist politicians are too preoccupied with expanding welfare programs and other ideological priorities instead of delivering visible improvements to the city. That’s what happens when you outspend even what was considered the most leftist city (but really isn’t, it’s NYC) San Francisco by 2-1 on welfare spending per capita, yet residents still don’t see the results.

   It’s people of all economic levels. I think the focus here is that the higher earners are taking a lot of the tax revenue with them when they leave

   I reject that only because the laws themselves have existed for quite some time but this trend of NYC losing tax revenue started in 2010 and has been accelerating since then. It’s not like it’s some Mamdani fueled craze. The reality is that we are losing to other parts of the US, same as Cali is losing the entertainment business slowly. If there were so many businesses and companies out there to plug the financial gap, it would have happened already in the intervening 16 years. It hasn’t and we’re stuck now. It just depends on whether this is a pendulum swing like I said that will go back or we’re stuck in a tail spin. If it’s the latter, we’re not going to have to worry about debates over NYPD overtime or the like because the budget, or lack thereof, will decide it for us

   We'll loose some tax revenue but rent will eventually go down, right?
