Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

If the city needs to raise more money, why not just start implementing $500 fines on having unleashed dogs in public places?

  2. Comment

Agreed, but in this instance, and the crux of this tragedy, is there should NOT have been an unleashed dog in a roadway.

  3. Comment

Sure, but in this case it was an unleashed dog crashing into a 71 year old cyclist. Was the 71 year old rolling 50kph laps on a Cervelo and screaming at pedestrians?

  4. Comment

Doesn't matter if it's off leash hour or not, dogs need to be leashed when crossing the roadways. Thats law AND the most basic level of common sense. Why you're looking to blame the cyclist when the police have come out and said it wad the fault of the unleashed dog is pretty gross. The guy was riding his bike where he was supposed to ride his bike... in the bike lane. Yet you rush to assume he must have been doing something wrong or illegal. Maybe he was but there is no evidence to support that. Do you blame assault victims when they wear really short skirts too?

  5. Comment

*because it's cyclists hitting pedestrians, it's cyclists hitting dogs, it's cyclists hitting runners, it's cyclists hitting cyclists.* but it isn't. we're talking about this case. in this case an unleashed dog ran out and a cyclist is now dead. maybe a beloved father, husband, friend to many. maybe start another tread? *>Having a policy of "Everybody following the rules all the time" is a recipe for failure.* im not sure why you mention this after my comment, it makes no sense in context to what I said - and no sense. you know why traffic lights work ? cause people obey them. /end. *>Is forcing cyclists to go to jersey if they want to ride 15 mph or faster a small price to pay to save four or five lives a year? Oh hell yes.* oh your sense of community is you and the things you like to do. you have much to learn about life.
