Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

It's just wild to see people flip flop depending on whatever Zohran says/does. You realize you can support him without supporting 100% of what he does right? I voted for the dude, but I'm willing to call out his actions on the budget and nepotism with many of his cabinet appointments. Stop acting like Trump cultists.

unfortunately, i think the likeliest case is pretty sizable tax hikes in the next 5-10 years. we're just totally offsides on our spending - and we've reached the stage of "balancing" by just revising estimates and shuffling around payments. I posted somewhere else about this but the CBC picture is somewhat sobering. zohran's pension "reform" basically starts becoming a huge cash drag in 2033 (something like 16b over 5 years) on slide 29. We're going to be 18-23b in a structural gap by 2030 (only 4 years away!). If that seems bad, wait until you realize that tax year 2029 is when the SALT deductions also get dropped again (from 40k to like 10k). Add on top of that social security reserves will be depleted by 2034 (so federal taxes will likely be hiked again) and Medicare's trust depletes in 2033. so its actually much worse - federal support is going to dry up (red states aren't going to bail out the blue ones - and IL/CA will be slightly ahead of us in line) and demand for hikes there will be coinciding with demands for hikes here. Basically the only way the city makes its way through is if it has massive growth in earnings (we already tax cap gains and w2 equally, so we're agnostic to source) from our current base *(but reminder: we're at record highs).* And even if we *did* have that growth, we don't have the housing (and arent on track to build nearly enough) to support the population growth to make it work. A recession pulls all these dates forward.

Do you think Zohran can wave a wand magically fix this over night?

Campaign finance reform is definitely afundamental matter that affects all others. Abdul hit on it repeatedly in his Michigan Senator primary debates. I would add executive transition funding as well. Trump inaugural transition funding was open season for grift special interests favor from big tech, wealthy and whoever wanted favor with his administration. Zohran faced this when needing public funding for the transition. People asked why he was asking the public for money. The real question was why he only the first mayor elect to ask?

There’s a difference between Trump and Bloomberg doing it and Zohran doing it. Zohran isn’t rich. Do his parents have money? Yeah, but that’s peanuts compared to Michael fucking Bloomberg. Now with Trump, he’s refused a salary, but he’s taken advantage of the office to make billions of dollars.
