Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Yeah - they should just update tbe drama category to "drama, horror, or thriller" instead of adding a new category

  2. Comment

If they’re going to continue category splitting they might as well broaden out what can be classified as drama- maybe putting psychological horror, sci fi and romance as drama so that it isn’t “drama” and “everything else”. Also having a few funny moments in an otherwise serious film shouldn’t make it classify as a comedy (The Substance and Anora are examples of this).

I mean, come on! Robin was not only a talented comedian but he was able to get roles in nearly every genre. Comedies, family, kids, dramas, period dramas, thrillers, fantasy, etc, which made him available to a wide audience. !gif

Ah, man, this movie had it all. Action, drama, comedy, suspense…..and dance

Generally romcoms either play off of bad communication issue or bad attachment dynamics. One of those attachment dynamics can be a pursuer and distancer at an extreme level to the point of anxious and avoidant and not just the healthy versions of those relationship dynamics. Most relationships have a pursuer and distancer, but a romcom or drama is going to portray it to an unhealthy extreme like having a boom box outside the window, and show that working rather than each person holding firm to their boundaries and not playing games. He shouldn’t be showing up with the boom box, and she doesn’t call the cops. The movie itself also portrays that as validated and idealized too, which is not great. But that could be said about a lot of romantic media and love stories. The Disney stories often have similar unhealthy dynamics that teach pretty poor stories and reinforce not great ideas about relationships. Drama happens at the extreme and often it’s more comedic or dramatic to see dysfunctional relationships than actual healthy dynamics. The same thing about pop music. We’d all rather listen to a breakup song and Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter than an artist living in a healthy relationship who is happy doing the same safe and secure boring things every day. Or at least that’s what sells. Dysfunction sells. Probably partly why romcoms aren’t popular anymore. It isn’t “politically correct” or okay for people to write these scripts anymore. But it’s okay for reality TV to portray it cheaply. So people just watch the dysfunction on TV now instead of push the limit in writing scripts and producing/funding/directing those scripts.
