The academics who make up the YouTube channel, History Hit, are much better when it comes to critiquing media portrayals of history. Though it helps that many of them are younger and actually engage with the media that they critique. Anyway, what I am trying to write is that, their videos on "historical accuracy" are quite refreshing as they aren't just several minutes of an expert whining about everything that is wrong.

Valid opinion and I agree, but the point here is that "historically accurate" is completely irrelevant when discussing a fairy tale. The Odyssey is not history, it's a myth, and any interpretation is valid. For people to complain about its casting is akin to saying "that's the wrong breed of swine used in Three Little Pigs, woke nonsense!"

I feel like I shouldn't have to say this so much recently: The oddesey is a historical story. The oddesey is not history. You can't be "historically inaccurate" in a story with magic and monsters.
