I think women can "flirt" with each other more comfortably than men can because it becomes immediate "no homo" macho stuff. My best friend/roommate from college got me out of my shell and we had a lingerie and highest of heels party that we never usually wear with just the two of us during Cinqo de Mayo. Her bf was really really controlling so she was kinda land locked into the apartment and I was still getting over being the other woman for over a year with a guy I still had to see in classes. I'm almost 40 and I try to make it a point to use my words and tell people they're looking good, man or woman.

Because men, particularly white men, are used to being coddled all of their lives and avoiding the consequences of their actions, but you can’t get away with shit forever. So when they eventually do have to be held accountable for their shit, the fragile egomaniacal side of them flys off the handle and rationalizes that if they have to be “punished”, then everyone else around them should be as well.
