Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

    This is my The Odyssey

I think she’s very aware of that. She’s talked about taking time off after this year. It really wasn’t that intentional. Spiderman, Euphoria, and Dune 3 were all preexisting contractual obligations. And she didn’t control when they were released. She’d have been dumb to turn down The Odyssey plus free vacation with her now husband. And The Drama is the kind of indie role she is smart to do. And was well received.

People do not like harsh reviews, just look at the thread from yesterday where Emily Wilson said she never would've written The Odyssey the way Nolan did and a bunch of people said she's taking it too personal, she's being too mean, and "she's allowed to be mean but why say it in pubic?" Fantano has done negative, blunt reviews of everyone's faves. And, likely, everyone views his higher scores as still too negative (people think 7 is a low score, it's not). This thread is kind of an example of people having knee jerk recations to blunt, uncensored responses to stuff: Fantano's video responding to Julian's diss starts with him highlighting that he's a Strokes fan himself and ends with him saying he's excited to buy the album and own something that name drops him. But in the middle he does aggressively defend his own work--he brings up his criticisms of Julian's last side project and it's use of AI art on the cover, cites sources about how Julian seems a bit obsessed with him at the moment (which might come off as petty on Fantano's part, as he seems to have all of hte clips lined up already but likely just... had people send it to him or has a team that looks for this stuff), and doesn't back down on saying that sometimes Julian's music does suck. He's not spirally, he's not "slamming" Julian, he's just saying "I think this line is stupid and I think Julian and I agree on a lot of music, in fact I like a lot of Julian's music, which makes the line all the more stupid." People take that personally. Rather than recognizing he's a professional music critic, people take him as just a guy iwth opinions who doesn't have to say them if they're mean and shouldn't defend his work. If he's giving an album a low score they disagree with, he's just being mean. But also... they don't watch the video WITH the low score, so they don't know why he's saying it. Just that he said it. So, it's unjustified. So, he's getting needless criticism from people who don't know what they're talking about. Which means that when he's faced with like... actual meaningful criticism, he just treats it like the baseless stuff. He's gotten an ego where all haters are just as baseless, all attacks aer just as useless and it's just not true. Like IMO the halsey thing was VERY overblown by people who did not watch the video BUT he was still being too aggressive. And instead of just going "I could've worded this better," he turned into a fucking movie villain about it. So 90% of his content is normal critical fare that people take too personally and then when he actually does go too far, he makes it worse. Almost every time. He becomes the asshole he's being accused of being and thus gives them more ammo for the next time he's like A Bit Too Much, so it becomes a cycle of escalating behavioiur. His average review is fine. Like all critics, he's a bit dismissive, a bit blunt, and will call things trash which is #TooMean but that's how media criticism is (I think any Roger Ebert review would have ppl shit themselves). But when he's bad, he's bad. And when hes criticized for it... he gets worse.

Yes, this is where Wilson I think is missing the point. Just like nobody watched *Braveheart* thinking it was a documentary, likewise nobody is going to watch *The Odyssey* expecting it to be a word-for-word replication of the poem. It's Chris Nolan having his fun with this story, just like the Cohen brothers did with *O Brother, Where Art Thou?* I wonder what Wilson would say of the Cohen's interpretation of it... My god sometimes academics are too pedantic.
