Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Yes, this is where Wilson I think is missing the point. Just like nobody watched *Braveheart* thinking it was a documentary, likewise nobody is going to watch *The Odyssey* expecting it to be a word-for-word replication of the poem. It's Chris Nolan having his fun with this story, just like the Cohen brothers did with *O Brother, Where Art Thou?* I wonder what Wilson would say of the Cohen's interpretation of it... My god sometimes academics are too pedantic.

Too many people in these comments have not read Wilson’s review and it shows…

Well, it's taken out of context. I've watched interviews and listened to podcasts where she guests and she's clearly happy and appreciative that Nolan made a movie about the Odyssey and it's a big hit. She's full of passion and nerding out about her work on several platforms, but she is also a professional and authority on The Odyssey as a literary and cultural work. Media outlets are just more keen on framing it as a Nolan versus Wilson clash of minds because it generates clicks.

This is sort-of what I expected from the Nolan movie, that it'd be disappointing compared to the Wilson translation (which did so much to rescue the female characters from bad Victorian translations who were making the women more like ideal Victorian ladies and less like WHAT HOMER WROTE). Nolan's women aren't great and they're usually plot accessories. And once he cast Matt Damon, I was like, "Okay, this is a movie about men having feelings at other men." Which is OKAY. I love Christopher Nolan's movies and I know going into them that the women will be under-written. I think he tells interesting stories about morally-ambiguous men and I like them! There aren't enough well-rounded female characters in cinema generally, but I can find them elsewhere, and I can be okay with Nolan being only okay at women. He at least doesn't reduce them to screeching harpies or sex objects (too often the case!) -- they're just kinda flat.

Ironically in her review Wilson actually says that the American accents themselves are a perfectly fine artistic choice! She (like you) doesn't like some of the writing.
