Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

My guy- conflating nation-state club ownership and private ownership must be a joke. The Glazers (or insert owner here) as rotten as they are aren’t impacting international trade between the UK and USA or other nations.

FFP was brought in to stop overspending by clubs and putting them at risk of being put into administration/going bankrupt. It was voted in by all members of the league, not just the ‘elite’ clubs. Changes to financial rules are being made all the time. The way in which the Glazers bought Manchester United is now illegal as it has saddled the club with \~£1B debt. Purchases can now only be amortised over 5 years in a response to Chelsea’s dealings to get around FFP and PSR. What City did was blatantly against the financial regulations already put into place and they did so for almost a decade. They lied to artificially inject funds into the club to buy success. They then tried to impede the investigation by withholding evidence at all stages of the process. The clubs that have suffered the most are those that were relegated or didn’t get into European spots due to City’s cheating. The amount of corruption that has been exposed is on such an egregious level, in terms of both scope and longevity, that anything short of expulsion from the Premiere League and subsequent refusal by the EFL to accept them into their leagues will forever be a stain on English football. Nothing they have achieved since 2008 has been legitimately. Whilst I don’t think awarded the titles they won to the second place holders I do think they should mark those years as being voided. No one won them.

Cuts hundreds of jobs for local people, puts up ticket prices, lobbied for Brexit… Then stands with a straight face and blames immigrants and taxing billionaires. Not a Utd fan but owners like the Glazers and Ratcliffe shouldn’t be allowed in the Prem.

  4. Comment

Balancing the books is only one side of football. The very best teams and leaders speak about culture, setting standards of excellence, heritage, and vision. The Glazers, and now Ratcliffe, view Man U as their financial kitty, and that fundamentally is the problem.

  5. Comment

By the time we knew it was too late bud. Documents about cheating didn’t get leaked till what, 2014? Didn’t get proved until now? That Guardian article says fuck all, all it says is City was acquired by the Sheikh and they don’t know if it was a business venture or maybe to build up Abu Dhabi’s reputation. Most people didn’t even spare the idea of sports washing a thought, United fans included. Semantics and guesswork. You really think any City fan will have read that in 2008 and boycotted the club? You really are going to pretend if United got taken over by Abu Dhabi in 2008, you’d have stopped supporting them? The fanbase would stop going to games? Spare me the bullshit. You hate the Glazers, you still go to games I imagine? All those United fans so called protesting against the Glazers, the one’s you mentioned? They still turn up to the games. They still funnel money into the club. They still support the club. Are they protesting or not? It’s not boycotting if you’re still going and still watching. It’s just virtue signalling hypocrisy The problem is you’re looking at it in hindsight and with a tainted view because you despise City. If you were there in 2008, it was not the same at all. Even rival fans didn’t start bringing it up properly until about a decade ago
