   Seeing the potential of the league, vultures from around the world jumped in a long time ago. Saudis, Americans, Emiratis all want a slice of the pie. I understand everyone here agrees that Emirati oil money is solely to be blamed for the destruction of the league. But I'd like to point also to the Americans that owns the like of Wrexham, Birmingham, Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leeds, Brighton et cetera are here for a reason. I'll also tell you what happens in the future: Football popularity will go up. Ticket prices will go up. Locals will be priced out because the clubs won't be local anymore. Prem ticket prices will go head-to-head with the NFL, NBA etc. And you can't do anything about it. Streaming services will cost more. Prem will become a closed-shop, or some form of European Super League will form to rival the Prem.

   American's have already invested in major premiere league teams. Yes Bezos is mega rich. So are the Saudis. So are the people who already own the teams. Even if Bezos buys liverpool it doesn't immediately mean that the game changes. It just means they have a new owner.

   Spurs fan here. Really dont like the underlying sentiment in this post. Their fans - who are generally great - were screwed over big time in the Ashley years. Then had high hopes, and what ever you think about Saudi Sportswashing it’s really no worse than City or Chelski, and now seemingly being they’re being abandoned again. But I bet if you go to St James’ any time in the future - regardless of what division they’re in - the stadium will still have 50000 there. Proper football club.

   People oversimplify last season as "Salah carrying". He had a great season but Slot brought that out of him by tweaking his role as he had lost some speed. He became this sort of wide playmaker/inside forward hybrid, with Diaz and Jota leading the press and providing the running power off the ball. What happened was our brain-dead recruitment team led by Richard Hughes sold our forwards capable of pressing and beating defenders for pace, and replaced them with Wirtz and Isak who then need wide pacey players to create space for them to succeed. We ended up with the slowest attacking personnel in the league last season. It meant Slot didnt have the players to play his preferred system and had to come up with a new one in pre-season, which was also then disrupted by Jota passing away and meant our team lacked a lot of fitness. Iraola is similarly being messed about now by Hughes. We're entering another season weaker than the last. He's off to Saudi afterwards as well. His last two seasons should be a case study in squad building failure.
