Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I agree to a certain extent They key is what situations to go down versus being strong and keeping the chance alive Eg is the shot/pass/dribble you are about to make a higher xG than a pen

  2. Comment

xG is a better predictor of success than goals. This has been well established.

  3. Comment

To be honest I find almost all annoyance at 'football jargon' to be 'old men yells at cloud' type stuff, or maybe even newer fans who are fearful of what they don't yet understand. xG, for example, is absolutely fine as a prediction metric, and I genuinely can't think of a valid reason for being so against it. It's hilarious. Having said all of that, I am a hypocrite, because some nerdy football fans I follow on Twitter have many times referred to areas of the pitch as 'zones' and then a number 1-18. So for example they'll describe a left winger 'cutting in from zone 16 to zones 17' to score, or a midfielder 'dominating zones 8 and 11', or a #10 'running the show from zone 14'. To me that just sounds like American shite and it makes me skin crawl. Hate it.

A Sunderland pen not awarded, city counter and score. Its not that hard to comprehend that is it even with a small brain like yours? Sunderland get a pen with is high xG, city cannot counter and score a goal. Best case for city is haaland still scores at the end and it ends 4-4.

  5. Comment

Anti-Stats people are crazy for devaluing key metrics. Obviously winning on xG isn’t worth points, but it is indicative of trends. Even in the worst game we have played in about 18 months, we a) limited the opposition to low value shots against, and b) created sufficient chances to win. Fine margins create a wide score line. It happens. Brighton played brilliantly, we played very poorly, and even then, on our worst day, on balance we created roughy equal chances. They took theirs and we didn’t, but the fundamentals are what they are, which is why any serious Arsenal fan isn’t flapping. Bring it on. We will win this year, I’ve never felt more confident.
