   It takes a YEAR for the redness/pink/purpleness to go away. Seriously, at 7 weeks you are just in the very beginning stages of healing. In a year it's going to be the same color as the rest of your skin and you will barely know it's there (and it will continue to fade over time). You don't need to do anything to it - leave it be and WEAR SUNSCREEN. Unfortunately you have to let time pass for the wound to fully heal and scars take a full year to look the way they are going to. Try not to worry about it right now - this isn't what it will always look like.

   Not that helpful, but this is a really cool scar. But don’t be too hard on yourself. Its just been 7 weeks! I had my throat cut open for a spine surgery and I thought I would have a gnarly scarf for life. 2,5 years later, and you can’t even see it. Give it time.

   scars need a long time to completely finish healing. 7 weeks is like the infancy stage for scars. Scars usually flatten and get lighter with time. Use silicone scar gel to help with that process. Don't expect your scar to improve in appearance so early on, it won't do you any good.

   Scar gel works on scars that are 3+ years old. At 7 weeks you're miles ahead of the game and it's already healing nicely. My facial scar was huge in comparison to yours and is now virtually invisible and there have also been improvements in treatments since then. What are you currently using on it? Did the hospital give you any aftercare instructions or prescriptions?
