The Trader Joe’s serum is a solid budget option, but having the same headline ingredients doesn’t necessarily make it identical to SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. The formulation, vitamin C stability, packaging, and supporting ingredients can all affect performance. If TJ’s is giving you a glow and you’re happy with it, there’s no compelling reason to spend $180+ just for the name. For melasma, consistent sunscreen use is also going to be much more important long-term than upgrading your vitamin C.

To be fair, if you watch the video, they don’t compare their own product, just the Skinceuticals & Trader Joe’s. Of course they put the Remedy product in their list of favorites in the video description box, but they really don’t push their own product in this review.

I haven’t used the Skinceuticals one but have tried the Trader Joe’s. It is decent, but I don’t use it with makeup. I use it on my wfh days or before hikes. Because, as someone said, it is practical but not cosmetically elegant. Does it have the same active ingredients? Yes. Is it a dupe? No. But I would consider repurchasing because it seems to work for my skin and it is hard to beat the price.
