Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

first 10, same as everyone else here. the one thing the $1m exercise is actually good for is arithmetic. does it close at your price. if it needs 20,000 customers at $4 a month and the market is maybe 3,000 companies, your first 10 will never tell you that. so do that on paper in an afternoon, once, then go get the customers.

  2. Comment

That's an important point. Vesting doesn't automatically mean ownership, it often just means you've earned the right to exercise the options. For anyone joining an early-stage startup, the exercise window and cost deserve as much attention as the equity percentage.

  3. Comment

What kind of moron company hires a moron who doesn't know how stock options work as a founding engineer and gives them an equity package large enough with 6 figs to exercise vested at one year? Not a company with a future so your equity is probably worthless anyway

  4. Comment

There are places that will give you the money as a loan for a hefty percentage. But that assumes the company is worth a good amount. Plus you have to pay taxes. If it is not worth it, exercise a single share as a fuck you. Or actually two of them. You stay on the cap table forever and you can demand financial statements every quarter and generally be a pain in the ass. Plus they have to involve you in the very vote. Be petty. Exercise two shares because they fucked you out of the money.

  5. Comment

Request a copy of your former company's equity incentive plan. If it really does not specify a post-termination period during which you must exercise ISOs or forfeit them, then you have a legal right to hold on to your vested ISOs! If they're worth $100k+, it will probably be worth the fee to get an attorney to send a letter outlining your rights. It will be fairly straightforward if the paperwork doesn't include a post termination window. If the equity incentive plan does specify this window, then at least you'll know what to look for next time.
