Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I'm based in Germany as well, so I'm familiar with the market dynamics here. Data sovereignty and GDPR compliance are certainly relevant selling points, but there's also growing competition from established infrastructure providers. One thing worth separating is validating customer demand from validating the hardware investment. Even if you secure a few paying customers, that doesn't automatically make €60k in owned infrastructure the better option. The relevant comparison is the total cost of rented versus owned capacity at different utilization levels, including electricity, maintenance, downtime, depreciation and the risk of unused capacity. I would suggest to establish a break-even utilization level first, then compare it against the capacity actually covered by recurring customer commitments. If owned hardware only becomes cheaper at 70–80% utilization, for example, but your first customers cover 25%, you're effectively betting the remaining investment on future sales. Paid pilots validate demand. Recurring commitments and demonstrated utilization help validate the capital expenditure. Those are two separate milestones, and reaching the first doesn't necessarily justify the second.

The average salary is much lower in Germany than you'd expect maybe, even for engineers

  3. Comment

In Germany this is around 10% of the average salary for an engineer, so I'd say this is quite expensive yes. (Maybe when considering how much US companies pay for remote positions, it's more like 3-4% but yeah) The cost to run a German company, at least for me as a German founder, is around ±1k a month just for bookkeeping incl. employees, a virtual office and anything else administrative. So it would be worth it easily from the third employee to have your own company here.

  4. Comment

EOR gets around this by having multiple entities in Germany. They shuffle you back and forth to skirt the law. Not talking ethics here but I have utilized them in the past and it is the way they skirt the German laws on time.

  5. Comment

I assume you are a US company. In this case you can register your company in Germany and sign a German work contract with the employee without setting up a separate GmbH. This works if you don't have an office/factory ('Sitz') in Germany. German term would be 'Ausländischer Arbeitgeber ohne Sitz in Deutschland'. EOR does not work for a longer time and is often aimed more on low-skilled workers.
