Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

small consulting shops are brutal because the owner is usually the only decision maker and they're buried in client work, not checking linkedin. what's worked for people i know is going narrower than you'd think, like targeting by niche (tax firms, ops consultants, whatever) and finding them through industry associations or local chambers rather than cold platforms, since those lists are smaller but way more reachable. on the outbound side a lot of founders seem to be leaning on agent based tools like instantly or krabat ai to handle the research and list building part since finding the actual humans is the hard part, not writing the email. doesn't fix the reply rate problem though, consulting owners still ignore most of it regardless of how targeted it is. referrals from other small firms honestly outperform anything cold for this ICP.

I agree that a good product doesn't automatically bring customers. But I'm not sure struggling to get customers always means the market is saturated. One competitor that's easy to overlook is whatever people already use, even when it isn't very good. Say you're selling order management software to a shop that runs on spreadsheets and messages. Your software genuinely works better: automatic inventory updates, less data entry, fewer missed orders. But adopting it means moving data, training staff, and checking that the new process actually works. If something goes wrong, the owner has to deal with the customers. From the builder's side, it's a time-saving tool. From the buyer's side, it's also a change that could disrupt their business. Their spreadsheet might be frustrating, but at least they know where it usually breaks and how to fix it. A better system can still feel like the riskier choice. I think that complicates the idea that marketing matters more than quality. Marketing can make someone aware of your product and convince them it's good. But if migrating data and changing workflows are what's stopping them, more advertising might not solve that. Helping them migrate, letting them run both systems alongside each other, or giving them a way back if it doesn't work out could be more convincing than a longer feature list. Switching costs aren't new, so this alone doesn't prove customer acquisition is harder than ten years ago. But I'd want to understand what customers are rejecting before concluding there's no room left in the market. When you say getting customers is harder, are they usually choosing another competitor, or do they understand your product and still decide to keep doing things the old way? Those seem like pretty different problems to solve.

Keep at least 60 days of ad spend liquid plus 6 months of fixed infra and tooling costs. When scaling Meta or Google, the risk is account bans or merchant payout delays, not just unprofitable ads. If Stripe holds payouts for a 14-day review, you need cash to keep the campaigns live without personal strain.Take a consistent modest owner draw and leave everything else in a high-yield treasury account until CAC stabilizes over 90 days.

spam marking is mostly a cell phone thing. a shop's business line picks up unknown numbers because any of them could be a $8k install, so a 2 minute call is about the most normal thing that happens to them all day. if you still want the reddit route, r/hvac is mostly techs, and 'can i interview you' posts tend to get removed or ignored. what works better is answering questions there for a couple weeks (dispatch, missed calls, after hours stuff) so your name looks familiar, then dming the owners who complain about missed calls in their own comments. that's weeks to get maybe 5 conversations though, versus one evening of calling.

5-20 techs both commerial and residential , i had the option of pluming but chose hvac , the value is the answering agent and the dispatching i build into the calls dashboard but still i want to connect with some hvac owners to validate
