   I don’t know what sort of app it is but you really wouldn’t want to be legally liable for anything personally. Eg if it’s an AI bot and somehow someone sued because it harmed children I wouldn’t want that in my name.

   You can’t protect yourself from being sued. Anyone can sue anyone else. Best to incorporate under a business name to protect your personal reputation and your assets. Disclaimers and the like just merely make it less likely to happen.

   I didn't say you couldn't release software that can do potential harm. I said you don't care about your users if you do. > The question was not whether there is liability. The question is whether you can make something that is a potential liability (like a kitchen knife) and still sell it and not get sued. Your example is contrived and not comparable. A knife is sold as something that is sharp and cuts things. If you bothered to read the link, you'd understand that there 100% is liability and there's legal prescedent for it. Not just this case, but a dozen others.

   Get a lawyer. You don't have billions upon billions in investment and some of the best lawyers in the world. ...and even that's not enough to avoid getting forced into a settlement. While the settlement amount was not disclosed, I'm sure it was many millions of dollars. Character AI used Google's AI. They both got sued. You can't hide behind "it was the AI's fault" defense as there is now legal precedent. You think both companies didn't have air tight Terms of Service?
