Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

sex is the biological and cant be changed HOWEVER (because the human body is so cool) there are situations where someone can be born female with XY or be born male with XX or be born with a mishmatch of both sexual organs intersex and many more other things gender is the social construct of it and can always be changed

  2. Comment

That’s not how DNA nor sex work, you can read my comment above with a much more thorough explanation of why that is but in essence there is no "male DNA" vs. "female DNA." Every human genome (XX or XY)contains essentially all the genes needed to build either sex's body. The Y chromosome contributes very little (its main product, *SRY*, essentially just triggers testes development in the womb and nothing else). What differs between a male and female body is which genes are expressed and at what levels, and that is driven by the hormonal environment. When a trans woman goes on HrT that hormonal environment swaps and so does gene expression, meaning her body starts to become female. You can also look at people with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome for another demonstration of the concept, born XY male but develop female even with a vagina, just with undeveloped undescended testes rather than ovaries due to the SRY gene, but every other inch of their bodies develop completely female, bones and all.

  3. Comment

Not really no, current up to date neuroscience has identified what makes a “male” and “female” brain, and the factors that affect it are almost all not able to be changed in that way after birth, certain things can change but not the overall structure and profile of it. So no, you can’t change your gender, you can certainly change your expression of it all you like however. In theory you could change gender in the future once the technology to edit facets of the brain exists although that has a lot of moral questions attached.

  4. Comment

To be more specific, there are no “male” or “female” genes, every human genome contains the genes needed to build either sexes body, but instead which genes are expressed and at what levels are controlled by the hormonal environment of your body, such that a trans woman born male but now on estrogen, progesterone, and anti-androgens(testosterone blockers) has a body that is expressing all its genes in a “female” way to make it easier to understand, their bodies begin building and maintaining itself as a woman’s with the same genome would, the reason some trans women don’t end up looking terribly much like a cis woman in spite of that is because if you go through one puberty first and your bones fuse and finish growing before HrT, they can’t just rebuild from the ground up, they do slowly change over time, but after they fuse the process is much much much slower and more subtle, so if you took a woman and magically made it so that her bones grew according to the so called “male” genes while nothing else did, XX chromosomes and all, she would look about the same. That’s just a limit of what the human body can do, like we can’t simply grow new teeth.

  5. Comment

They do not. They are bunches of DNA wrapped in proteins, on their own they don’t really do jack, however, once hormones come around, the things that control gene expression, certain parts are expressed and others are not. On their own they don’t do anything. To further explain why hormones are a shit ton more important, what they do specifically, hormones act as ligands for intracellular receptors, in the cytoplasm or nucleus, a lipid-soluble hormone (such as a steroid or thyroid hormone) diffuses across the plasma membrane, binds to its specific receptor, thus causing a conformational change that activates the complex. This hormone-receptor complex then translocates to the nucleus and binds directly to specific DNA sequences called hormone response elements (HREs) located on the chromatin. To simplify, the hormones in your body determine gene expression, once they do their thing, they function as what is called a transcription factor in the creation of the RNA that your entire body is built off of, the instructions, basically they take the genes you possess and tell your body which ones to use. This means that in estrogen dominance your entire body is building itself off the “female” set of instructions and in testosterone dominance tells the body to build off the “male” set. A demonstration of this concept is Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome where a person is born XY male, but with a vagina, and continues to develop completely female because their body cannot respond to androgens like testosterone, the male set of genes you think the chromosome magically expresses do not get expressed, and they do not develop male, at all.
