   What about a man drawing a gun would make you fear a women drawing a gun wouldn't? Outside of sexism or transphobia, genuinely what difference does it make at all.

   Covert sexism. Overt sexism obviously sucks, but its less common and called out more. Covert sexism is more common and it gets brushed aside. Especially covert sexism when you see it compared to treatment towards boys. Stuff like seeing a boy mess up and it being brushed off with "boys will be boys" while being seen as misbehaving and unladylike if you do the same thing. Getting judged for eating while "a growing boy" is used when a boy eats a lot. More subtle things like getting doubted for your opinion more in STEM extracurriculars, or being talked over. My personal least favorite is getting told to "smile more." Also stuff like "sweetheart," "missy," and "young lady" just feels patronizing sometimes. Also just the plain annoying shit like periods. Sometimes my vision goes in and out when I'm on them and I feel faint until I chug advil. And cramps are just a bother. Blood gets everywhere.

   Are you a woman? I think you’re a woman. Women HATE people with different opinions than them. They have safety and community wherever they go because they spend most of their time in an echo chamber. I get that your opinion is the only one that matters to you, but that’s your privilege showing. Listen more and talk less. Differing opinions are important. 😝😝😝 Btw, I’m a woman myself, ‘lest anybody accuse me of sexism.

   My point was your first sentence, multiple things can be true at once, acting like gender doesn’t matter doesn’t erase sexism and it’s byproduct, that’s your problem and that’s what I’m choosing to talk about

   Being expected (and forced!) to cook/clean/do stuff at family gatherings while all my male relatives sit around the TV. I was doing stuff like that since I was 9. My currently 40 year old dad at 14 year old brother don't do shit. They aren't even expected to come out and greet the guests. Periods, and specifically how everyone always just says "take a painkiller" and then go back to work/school/helping even though I feel like I'm on the verge of keeling over Constantly having to monitor what I wear in front of whom. I was wearing a simple t shirt and long pants pajamas when I first got harassed by some weird dude who kept touching me and asked for my number (I was 13, clearly looked 13, sounded like I was 13, in panda pajamas) School uniforms usually suck. The boys get to wear comfortable pants and the girls are stuck with skirts that we have to adjust every single time we sit down and stand up. Can't really run with them if they're too short or too long Being expected to wear jewelry or dress a certain way or wear makeup. Earrings, even real gold ones, irritate my ears and sometimes cause them to bleed with how itchy it is. My mom just tells me to put on some cream. No one else really cares. I remember for a wedding once, I was expected to wear a full dress that took up half the car space, a full face of makeup (I hate makeup, begged to not wear it, even my father insisted I wear it because otherwise I "wont look good"), and tons of clunky jewelry. My brother wore black dress pants and a black polo shirt. He didn't even comb his hair. I got called crazy for wanting to wear something like he did In certain cultures, including my own, sexism is rampant. My family believes that girls shouldn't go out alone. My brother was walking like 5km away from our place to meet friends when he was 9. I was only allowed to go to the grocery store in the same block alone for the first time when I was 14. Same thing with staying home alone for some reason. And wearing shorts around the house. The incessant comments on our bodies. I'm always too fat, too thin, too *something*, even if literally nothing changed about my weight or anything else, meanwhile my brother doesn't get any of that. My 100kg~ dad is never told he has to go to the gym, but my 70kg~ mom is constantly told that. She's even started believing it and sees it as a moral failing everytime she doesn't go to the gym My dad called my mom a slave, said wives are meant to serve their husbands, and I'm eventually gonna do it too one day. I was 15. Told them I wasn't going to marry, ever, and they laughed and said I didn't have a choice. Even my mom did The whole being expected to hide the fact that you're on your period thing. Shoving pads in pockets, using a hush hush tone when talking about it, expecting boys and men to be freaked out when hearing about it When my brother got a love letter from his crush, my mom was happy and excited. When he got his first girlfriend at 13, she literally asked if he wanted cake to celebrate. When I just invited a male friend over to do school work, she accused me of "trying stuff" with him and wouldn't leave me home alone with him, at all. I didn't even have a crush on this male friend. The mere idea of me alone with a boy sent my mom into a frenzy. My dad too, when he heard about it And before anyone says "that's just your family", I live in a culture where this happens all the time. Every single female friend I have has experienced this. Every. Single. One.
