   The reason is transphobia. He thinks people will be more sympathetic if they're trans. It's transparently obvious. You don't need to play coy.

   Coming from someone who is gender fluid, yes, you can. Not being attracted to someone is a valid reason to say no. You don’t dislike him because he’s trans, you just don’t like his body. That’s fine. Just don’t word it like that.

   I’m a trans man who unfortunately can’t transition yet and yes it’s not transphobic. Even if I’m a man I’m still unfortunately woman shaped, it’ll take some time for me to look how I think, and that’s ok. It’s also ok to not want someone woman shaped plus you’re not attracted to every man.

   Gender fluid people cannot change their gender either, they lack being solidly one or the other, we now understand how being trans works, it’s a measurable difference in the brain, where most people’s brains are either phenotypically male, or phenotypically female, a bimodal distribution, however some still fall in between with these characteristics, not actually being either, the best guess presently is that nonbinary people simply fall in between both and truly are gender neutral in that regard, and that gender fluid people experience a version of that where the systems in the brain tied to processing who exactly you are can just fluctuate in how strongly it is acting day to day. For the majority of people that area of the brain tied to forming your ego is pretty consistent in terms of activity, and may slightly fluctuate depending on emotional activation, and in some individuals it’s just not very stable at all and fluctuates a lot more day to day. The specific explanation for gender fluid people or those that identify with the term is not really understood quite yet and more of a best guess, but it does fit into our more modern neuroscientific model of what being trans looks like on a physiological level

   So why not describe her in terms of her actual physical build rather than a term like trans that is very widely misunderstood.
