Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Is this a wait and see day between the fed tomorrow and big tech earnings?

  2. Comment

Yeah. From what I understand, instead of just buying regular stocks, they throw billions into 2x leveraged ETFs and margin loans specifically on big tech stocks. Given the lopsided nature of their index, this is a gamble and a half but the sheer volume of people doing this makes it insane.

Some basic accounting / finance for all the idiots that are comparing the PE ratios of Apple vs. other Big Tech stocks and subsequently claiming that Apple is overvalued: 1. Apple's earnings may currently grow at a lower rate, but they also have a lower (perceived) risk to them than say Nvidia's. What matters is how the company's earnings are expected to develop in the future, not just the current earnings level. The market clearly doesn't underwrite that Nvidia would continue to grow at the current pace. 2. Earnings don't reflect the level of capital expenditures, which is exactly what investors are worrying about. So, you cannot use the PE ratio to compare two businesses that have wildly different capital intensities.

He’s not exactly buying weeklies, and his thesis makes perfect sense. Companies that provide materials and hardware should not be more valuable than companies that provide the final service. You don’t see restaurants providing food cheaper than the grocery store. You don’t see appliances selling at less than the cost of the components. You don’t see cars being sold at a discount to the sum of their products, but with AI we seem to be good with it, and we also are betting businesses will just be good with the cost on something new. There’s too many accounting adjustments being made by big tech to not make it questionable. It is also starting to mimic 2000 when Cisco and other hardware/infrastructure companies overtook the consumer services and software companies. Personally I don’t think it actually pops until late 2027 when current budgets are used up. I also don’t think Nvidia will fall that much since Jensen is trying to move into different product lines. Memory and storage though are jokes though and I hope CXMT floods the market with memory.

yes, and I have enjoyed seeing tech bros that thought they weren’t innovative enough fuming as it gets awarded the best multiple in big tech. However, I will say it is not entirely clear how much this was all part of their master plan, as there were conflicting things coming out over the past couple years. There was the white paper the company published that basically said AI was way overhyped, but also the reports of an emergency meeting with top executives where they panicked about falling behind and resolved to make AI their top priority.
