Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

the "pascal's wager" makes all of those ruminations moot - if we need 100x more memory - it doesn't matter it's a commodity, or that chinese can step in, but yes, if we want to stay closer to the ground - then sure those are risks, having said that you poorly supported this argument: \-HBM is not a commodity at all \-DRAM absorption is going to go off the charts BY HBM, in America and the west \-and yes we ain't gonna start uptting chinese stuff in our datacenters margins will go down after we have expanded capacity. That's slower than you'd think, even for this "commodity", and even then - at first the entire extra capacity will get absorbed too, if we'll truly need as much memory as EVERYONE IS SAYING (and have been right for a while now, as models continue going off the charts with capabilities)

Are you a bot or something? Surely you don’t think the guy who has more satellites that he personally owns than maybe every other satellite that exists, the guy who owns the largest datacenter on earth signing deals to power the largest AI companies with it, doesn’t know how much heat a GPU makes and how much heat a satellite can radiate per sq ft of radiator? Do you really think the richest man on earth is an absolute moron? Like I could get it if it was say, me, telling you it can work. Me, a guy who has never owned or even seen a satellite, nor has ever built and run a hyper scaler, totally fare you doubt what I say, what do I know? But the guy who arguably has more personal experience with both sides of this equation than anyone else on earth?

Imagine not having your own datacenter at this point.

You would be surprised. Running Qwen 3.8 27B is same experience as Opus 4.5! Qwen4 looks to be even better. Yes, they do need a bit more hand holding than SOTA models today but local models is not that far off. Chinese companies are literally nipping at OpenAI/Anthropic's heels at this point. Why do you think they are so opposed to open source models? They want to kill competition, they think they already have enough competition as is. Their investor money is drying up so they want to earn from their users. Problem is they are charging way too much. People think they are subsidizing subscriptions but they are not. Anthropic even a year ago when the limits were much higher, models were more resource hungry, less optimized, they said subscriptions are profitable. Main money sink is new infrastructure, datacenters, hoarding resources, training next gens and R&D. They want to be the first and don't want competition to have any resources if possible. That's why they lower limits, reduce benefits etc. for subscriptions and push people to use API instead so they can earn more than x25. Personally, as a SWE I want cheaper models, work horses that are cheap & private. Local and Chinese models are good enough for that. OpenAI already made their subscriptions useless (bang for the buck). A lot of people moved to Anhtropic and Chinese companies / OS LLM cloud providers. When Anthropic pulls the same greedy tactic, a lot of people will flock to alternatives. Hack at $6000/y, I would rather invest local and at that range you are looking at running GLM 5.3 Flash, DeepSeek v4.1 Flash locally.

Ads are not the only way to make money, best ad provider doesn't necessarily mean winner. I think the winners are the ones that can hold their market share and make a margin on it. Models alone don't do that given that open source is competing. The real winners will be the physical providers - Nvidia (obviously) and anyone building datacenters.
