   the ai feature sucks because you can't close it for an expanded view of the (horrible, tedious, colorless) new look to the balance sheets. The option of opening an ai sidebar is great.... as long as you can close it for an expanded view of the thing you're studying. Forcing it to be constant - is evil. (contrary to their motto "Don't be evil." Please listen up, Google.

   Nothing about this makes any sense. Each Google search makes Google money. Each AI response costs them money. Very different incentives

   A bit unrelated but I was thinking that the gen A (post 2012) is so fucking cooked on the social media and youtube sides as their algorithn from extraordinary young age (like ipad kids since 5-6 years old) is going to be so fucked with AI slop and everything else to the point that most of the recommended videos are going to be AI slop, like I am in my early twenties and created my first google acc at around 2016 [earliest date I could find with an email response] , (I watched the videos before that but without my own account) and still use it today as my main entertainment account.

   You say that like it was the plan from the start, when they spent a bunch of time and money on their own models before turning to Google. Idk if it was billions, but it was significant ontop of the billion per year that Apple is now paying for Gemini. Apple's whole deal is being as vertically integrated as possible. I'm pretty sure they don't see turning to Google as some big win or savings. I imagine they'll continue spending time and money internally on their own models until they can break away from Gemini
