I can only imagine Anthropic's and Open AI's subscription prices will be suppressed by the existence of the Chinese alternatives. That doesn't bode well for their business model and getting to break-even, unless the US government steps in or something.

You know who the US government ran to in 2008 to bail out Lehman, Warren. Covid, he saved Occidental. In a world of fast money you need someone to backstop some of it. It sure isn’t the US government anymore. Look at the 30 year treasury yield above 5% again at 5.16%. Last auction dealers ate shit because international buyers don’t want our junk debt but if we raise rates we can’t service our own debts interest and it’s over.

The loss for the quarter is literally just the valuation of the US government stake increasing. If Intel shares fall back to Q1 levels then Intel will mark that 11B as a profit.
