Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I dunno I started programming/solving problems when I was 14 and I still feel like I benefit from just doing hobby projects etc and I've put down thousands of hours over the last 29 years. To only see it as a job and hope to get proficient in a month.. I dunno. If my heart wasn't truly in this I couldn't see myself doing it.

Why use different third-party services for deployment and storage? - I'm a general SWE trying to learn more about full-stack web development and system administration. I'm working on a hobby project that I want to deploy on PaaS like Render or Railways. I'm reading guides on how to deploy, and many of them include Supabase or Neon to the stack on top of Render and Railways Don't these PaaS services like Vercel, Render, Railways already offer in-house storage solutions? That seems like the path of least friction: to use the storage option that is already first-class integrated with the application deployment service. I intend to pay for the hobby tier for these services, and I'm not just trying to shop around to maximize freebies. Why would I use Render's platform for server compute and then use Supabase for postgres? Instead of just using Render for both?

Reading this took me back six years ago, when I got promoted and was now the most “senior” person in my org. The job changed and I didn’t enjoy it as much for many of the same reasons you describe. I’m still craving that heads down flow state, that’s why I have hobby projects outside of work. Though strangely, on the job, AI has made me a bit more hands on again.

Many people have github and do personal projects. I don't do that many but made quite a few open source gaming mods. Also... Have you heard of open source code? LITERALLY people doing it for the love of the game. Maybe modern open source has corporate backing, but up until maybe 2015, the entire industry ran on top of hobby projects that people gave away for free.

I feel you. We were doing agentic coding since 2025. Got laid off this year. I can honestly say I also lost my ability when asked to code review manually. I haven't been doing that for more than a year when our pipeline has code review and agent has skills to code review. Basically, all we're doing is making sure the decisions of AI are aligned with PO's vision. QAs also done by AI even the design. This is not optional but a requirement in our development workflow. We can't just say "oh let's not use AI today". The craft is dead unless you're doing a hobby project you are free to not use AI. Now I'm finding hard to get a job. Not sure if I will ever got job again after almost 20 years in the industry.
