Sure, that's not what I said though. I'm saying Devs/programmers uniquely have to jump through *more* hoops. If people are being asked to prepare a couple slides to bring in for their interview that's pretty much it, they're not being asked to do a 3 day assessment centre with live excel-fu and macro use as well as showing off their home spreadsheet My whole point isn't that no one has to do work for interviews, it's that Devs *uniquely* have to go through so many different hoops for a role

   Tbh I have never heard of anyone in real life asked about side projects let alone an interviewer actually checking someone’s checking a GitHub repo unless it very directly was related to the position. I did hear many times (practically all the times honestly) of people being asked to do market analysis, prepare a presentation or break down a product on their time for interviews. I have been in the industry for 15 years and got to do a lot of interviews during that time and never once got asked about side projects let alone asked for a link to my GitHub. Unless those people you talk about are applying for a starting position they very much get homework to do for the interviews. I know we want to believe we get the short end of the stick more than others but we do get paid more and people in other positions who get paid as much also need to go through long convoluted interview processes.

   Hard problems are fine, unrealistic interviews and several days of unpaid work are not. Also, 2 weeks to get a feedback but a strict 7 day deadline to submit test is quite ironic. Similarly, casually taking 7/10 days after every interview step to share the feedback and the outcome of the interview does not in anyway respect candidates time. Even to get the coding test feedback after 10 days, I had to email Mimica's recruiter several times only to be ghosted on 7th day and then all of a sudden receive a positive feedback on 10th day. Hope you guys can keep yourselves in candidates shoes and see. I created this post to share my honest interview experience and warn devs so that if they need a job in a reasonable time/quick feedback and a realistic interview process, they can avoid Mimica (and similar companies) or be aware of how the process is to make an informed call.    I definitely heard all of those for even things like product managers and even sales people. The thing is it was for the higher levels in those positions but the salary was pretty close to that of those in development. I’m not trying to defending a broken system of interviews but people here a lot of time forget the R&D salary are higher then most other positions and the people who earn the same in other departments also get fucked with a long interview process.

   I don't think I've really heard of any other industry that requires people to do all of these for one job: - Online interview - Psychometric gamefied testing - Side projects outside of work (basically *no* jobs expect this) - Take home assignments - Multi day assessment centres - 3 rounds of interviews and technical grilling Maybe one or two of these, but it's insane Devs have to jump through 10 hoops for a job. It's not at all normal for a single job application to be taking up 5 days of your life
