Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

there is no norm, companies use "lead" to mean anything from tech lead to senior with meeting privileges, so the actual responsibilities and pay matter more than the label

Lead here, I have two seniors on my team that I am responsible for. I rarely do coding anymore, mostly mentoring my juniors and attending meetings. All of my guys (team of 11 currently) bring up any issues to me. If it’s personnel related and I can’t solve it I take it to my manager who reports to the CTO. We also have a principal engineer who is my peer, but he does his own thing. I run the stand ups and funnel the reports from management to the workers. The principle decides what package/stack he wants to use for each project.

Lead should be the higher-level role. Less coding, if any, and organising/structuring a team. Having responsibilities about disciplinary and handling ressources. A senior may be more experienced than his lead (most of the time) but has less weight while decision making. In my experience it's also common that a senior is in charge for tasks like onboarding, decisions about tooling/architectures or code reviews.

A team typically has one lead, but can have many seniors. Senior/middleweight/junior signifies your level in terms of experience/ability. Lead means you're the one managing the team I am the lead of my team -- I have 3 other seniors in my team.

This is the best answer I’ve seen. These titles will drastically differ based on the company, and sometimes department. I typically see someone as a lead as someone who is responsible for a domain. Maybe that’s a service, maybe it’s a product, maybe it’s a team. The “lead” is signifying that they have a set of responsibilities *outside* that of a typical individual contributor. Senior is talking about the responsibilities of the role, but measuring them against the IC track - separate from anything additional brought on by being a lead. One person can be a lead AND a senior.
